Nina focusing on Guy was easier for Frank to handle for a number of reasons, first and foremost because it let him settle and finish making food. It was done in short order at any rate, and he brought three bowls over, one for each of them, looking like he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
He sat on the floor because it seemed like he might crowd one or both of them to try to sit anywhere else. This was the most people he’d had in the apartment since he’d had it. That felt unbelievably stupid, but also true to form.
“Eat,” he said firmly. “And drink coffee. We’ll all feel better after we do that. Nina, I’m sorry I went AWOL. I should have let you know shit was going on. I didn’t know it was going to be that reactive to what you do. But we do know now, and you know I’m not dead. Everybody knows I’m not dead.”
